A Few Notes
- The policy name in each row links to that policy's full guide, where you'll find the exact rules for your country.
- For some mutual-exemption countries, there's a limit on how much time you can spend in China overall. You can stay up to 90 days, but no more than 90 days total within any 6-month period. Your country's full guide shows whether this applies to you.
- "Transit only" means China isn't your final stop — you're passing through on your way somewhere else. For example, you fly from London to Sydney with a stop in China. You can leave the airport and stay up to 10 days, but only if you already have your ticket booked out of China to your next country. One catch that trips people up: the country you leave China for has to be different from the one you arrived from — so flying in and back the same route doesn't count. Other Ways Into China Visa-Free
Some policies depend on where you're going or how you're traveling, so they're not in the table above. Each has its own full guide:
- Hainan visa-free travel — up to 30 days on Hainan Island.
- Greater Bay Area visa-free (via Hong Kong or Macao) — short group visits to Guangdong.
- Xishuangbanna and Guilin visa-free — for organized tour groups from ASEAN countries.
- China cruise-ship visa-free — for cruise tour groups arriving at Chinese ports.
